Picture Blocking Beer Cooler Keeps Your Face Out of Embarrassing Photos
Dec 16th
cylonlover writes “It may sound like something dreamed up by a cheesy men’s magazine as a joke, but apparently this is a real thing that actually exists. Ostensibly, the Norte Photoblocker is a functional beer cooler surrounded by four sensors that can detect the flashes from cameras or cell phones. If a flash goes off in the direction of the Photoblocker, it fires its own flash to flood the resulting photos with bright white and obscure anyone nearby. Now you can go about your usual business of cheating on your spouse, being an idiot around your boss, or drunkenly harassing fellow party-goers without worrying that some wildly irresponsible person will tag you in a photo and posts it online.”

This is Why I Don’t Exercise
Jul 27th
People go to great lengths to present just the right image of themselves to the outside world. Hell, there are billions of dollars spent every year on make-up, plastic surgery, “miracle” diets, and clothing to make us look our very best in public. But Sacha Goldberger wanted to look at the other side; the side that’s not too far removed from sprinting across fields to try and spear a mammoth. So he and his team set up an outdoor photo studio near Paris and asked joggers passing by to sprint, then let him take a picture while they were gasping for air. Now, thanks to My Modern Met, you can see the debut of the results…

Rare Color Photos from The Great Depression
May 20th

Photo credit: The Library of Congress
For those who aren’t familiar with US history, The Great Depression essentially “marked the bitter and abrupt end to the post-World War 1 bubble; near the end of the 1930s the country was beginning to recover from the crash, but many in small towns and rural areas were still poverty-stricken.” Click here for the first picture in gallery.

picme Gets Updated to 1.1 With New Features
May 17th
I reviewed an app called picme back in April, and I have good news – the app has been updated to version 1.1 and includes a slew of new features and improvements!
The changelog includes:
-New ‘Settings’ tab when you tap the action button. Settings include toggling the sounds on/ off, saving the original image to the photo library, and logging out of social networks.
-Added a new Watermark feature! You can now watermark your photos with our very simple, easy to use api. Select the ‘Watermark’ effect under the effects panel, type in your ‘Watermark’ text (including the copyright symbol), select from 6 different positions to have your ‘Watermark’ on your screen (including Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right, Middle, Diagonal), and then select your ‘Watermark’ font, font size, and color and then your ready to go!
-Twitter now uses xAuth authentication (you also have the option of following iPhonig on twitter which we recommend you do for news and updates)
-Brightness effect changed. Rather than just having a preset LowBright and HighBright effect you can now just simply use a slider to adjust the brightness of your pic!
In addition, the developer already has plans for version 1.2 in the pipeline. Expect this in the future:
-Pencil Sketch Effect
-Tilt Shift Effect
-Push Notifications
Make sure to check out our original review and give the app a try. Let us know what you think in the comments!
