First, please forgive the screen shot. I’ll explain why a map is being featured with the app. Second, I quite frankly think this app leads to nothing but mischief. Forbidden Cam is a way to take pictures with your iDevice without anyone knowing about it. Whether it’s by using a blank screen or under the disguise of reading a blog or newspaper, you tap the screen to take pictures or a short video.

So, that would be where the map comes in. One of the screens displayed while you take your covert pictures is a map. There are also blog sites, newspapers, a calculator or just a black screen. As much as the developers ask that pictures not be taken where they are prohibited, they advertise capturing live shows, concerts or “private moments” using their app.

There are already enough problems with those who take pictures to humiliate others, violate the assumed privacy of another or exploit the creative property of artists and performers. We don’t need an app that gives users the sense that as long as they can’t be caught, then it must not be that bad. If you have to consider using this type of app to cover your tracks, then you probably shouldn’t be taking that pic to begin with.
